If you’ve ever enjoyed a fish supper from Hector’s Plaice in Kyle, this weekend you’ll have the chance to choose from a greatly extended menu in brand new premises. The takeaway shop — renamed Hector’s 2 Go — will be moving to Main Street where, on Saturday 24th September, its doors will open to the public at 11.30am. The creation of local couple Hector and Mhairi MacInnes, it replaces the very popular Hector’s Plaice fish and chip shop and will sell all the old favourites along with lots of exciting new products.
“State of the art fryers in larger premises will cook to perfection your favourite fish and chips and other suppers, but in addition try our new delicious pizza range made in Italian built pizza ovens, as well as locally sourced Isle of Skye ice-creams, takeaway hot pies and snacks, soup made fresh everyday, hot and cold drinks and tasty cakes and treats,” said Mhairi.
If you fancy a freshly made sandwich or hoagie made just the way you like it, there is a sandwich bar in the new premises, which will stock a wide variety of fillings and will make it fresh for you as you wait.
“As a way of saying thank you to our loyal customers we are launching a new loyalty card,” added Hector. “With six different meal deals simply buy seven of any one deal and get number eight on us. With no time limit for claiming your free deal save up your points and enjoy your free food on us. Over the opening weekend we will have limited stock of the cards “pre-loaded” with five points for each deal. Come in and claim yours and it means that you only need to buy another two of each deal and get number three free.”
Mhairi and Hector are extremely grateful for the fantastic local support they get for both businesses and are really looking forward to welcoming people to the new shop. The new premises were bought last year at auction and have already featured on the very popular BBC1 Programme “Homes under the Hammer” which followed the story so far from success at the auction to the renovation of the flat above the new premises. The feedback from the first programme about Kyle and the beautiful surrounding scenery was so positive that the BBC have been back to film again this week and show their viewers the end result. Mhairi and Hector are so pleased to be helping to put Kyle on the map in this way and are sure the whole local community will benefit from the increased exposure.
Now that the new takeaway shop is open the pair won’t be sitting still though. Over the winter plans will be taking shape for the extension and refurbishment of Hector’s Bothy Cafe which will extend into the space no longer used by the old chip shop. The pair are really excited about the plans and cant wait to share the new look café with the local community in 2012. The emphasis of the new business, very much following the ethos of the Bothy, is that the food is all freshly prepared. Hector’s 2 Go cooks the food to order so you can assured of freshly cooked food every visit.
The new takeaway’s opening weekend hours are 11.30-10pm Saturday, 11.30-9pm Sunday and 11.30-10pm Monday. Visit www.hectorskyle.co.uk for full details of the normal opening times. The new phone number for orders is 01599 530169.
Between Saturday 24th September and Monday 26th September there are special opening offers for this period only — Buy any supper and pay for only a single; buy a pizza and get the second half price; free kids ‘pix n mix’ sweet selection with every kids meal; free 1.5 litre bottle of juice with every order over £15; as well as 200 pre-loaded loyalty cards to give away which means you only need to buy any two more meal deals to get the third free.
